Sailing ship description

Experience this beautiful 30 meter long clipper, built in 1908 shes rich with history. For the first 80 years of its existence this ship was used as a freight carrier on the Dutch, Belgian and French canals. Transporting potatoes, maize, trees and cattle food. In 1986 this amazing clipper was renovated in to the amazing ship you see today.

 

Sailing ports and waters

In the Winter period (November March) its located right in the city centre of Amsterdam at the historic shipyard called Scheepswerf Kromhout. During the summer months (April October) the ship is docked in the home port of Monnickendam.

From the latter you can depart to enjoy an amazing sailing trip on this clipper rich with history. Sail on the Frisian Lakes, Wadden Sea or IJsselmeer and experience what its like to sail on a real ship first hand.

The layout of this sailing ship

On this characteristic ship you will find a large common room with tv and stereo, here you can relax after a day of sailing. The kitchen is connected to the common room, creating an amazing space for you and your company. The ship contains ten bedrooms, three 4-person cabins and seven 2-person cabins. There are two bathrooms and three toilets on the ship.

How to get there

The ship can be found in the harbor of Monnickendam. About 30 minutes north of Amsterdam this small town is easy to reach with public transport.

About the area

Monnickendam can be found in North-Holland about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. Visiting Amsterdam is always a great plan when you’re near. With its rich history and beautiful canals it makes for a great experience.

The Grote of Sint-Nicolaaskerk is the most important church in the city of Monnickedam. The Gothic building can be found in the old city centre of the city. Original construction began in 1400 and was completed around 1510.

The oldest hand-played Carillon of the Netherlands can be found in Monnickedam. You can find it in the Townhall tower called the Speeltoren. Construction started in the late 14th century.

The first time I went on a flat bottom boat I was only a teenager. Ever since that moment I realized this is want I want. I worked as a deckhand for six years. After this I got my own ship and never looked back. That was 7 years ago and I’m still happy I made that decision. The guests are my priority, if they want to actively participate in sailing that’s fine or if they rather relax on the ship that’s fine too.

    We started our sailing journey in Monnickendam and went to the Ijsselmeer. Here we had a unforgetable sailing experience.
