Eco friendly sailling ship Tranquillum - Sleeps 14

The options of this eco friendly sailing ship are huge. Departing from the harbor of Monnickendam, you can book a one-day sailing trip on the Gouwzee and Markermeer, simply enjoying the stunning surroundings these waters have to offer. Or sail a whole week on the IJsselmeer or Wadden Sea. When going out for a single day this Tjalk can accommodate up to 20 people. On multiple day trips the capacity is 14.

Back to the basics

When you go out with the Tranquillum, there are a lot of things you should not expect. Don't expect a high-end 5-star sailing yacht, don't expect a TV and stereo-set, and don't expect airconditioning. What we do offer is a very stable, characteristic, cosy and environmental friendly piece of Dutch heritage. Get ready to go back to the basics with us and enjoy what life is really about. Since 1990 the crew of this ship has been sailing with much joy on traditional sailing vessels. The crew makes sure you have a great time and any questions you might have about the ship they will be happy to answer.

The layout of this sailing ship

This ship is a great option for trips with children as it has a flexible bed layout. In total there are five 2-person cabins with bunkbeds. Also we offer two 2-person cabins with double beds, of which one can be turned into a 3- or 4-person cabin.

This ship is a very stable tjalk which allows also people with lesser stability to sail with her. You will find a comfortable and cosy main room with a warm and nostalgic feel. This is the perfect spot to have an enjoyable evening with your company.The width of the vessel is 5 meters and the depth is 1,2 meter. The electricity supply is 12V and 230V.

Our eco-friendly philosophy

A sailing holiday offers one of the smallest carbon footprints possible, and with our eco-friendly philosophy we make it even smaller. We use our sails as much as possible and this way try to use as few diesel as possible. Aboard we are conscious about water usage and we only use environmental cleaning products to keep our ship in the wonderful condition she is in. Furthermore we separate our waste and use as much organic products for our wonderful catering service as possible.

Flexible catering service

If you want to be spoiled to the bone, you are more than welcome to use our all-inclusive catering. You will be served a wonderful breakfast, snacks, lunch, a 'safe arrival drink' with Dutch herring and a wholesome evening meal with dessert. But you can also participate in preparing the meals and get a 10% discount on the catering price. On request you can also choose to let us do the shopping and get recipes so you can do the cooking yourself. All this we can discuss of course.

Winter Trips and Kids- and Family Cruises

We do offer special trips during the winter period (do we still have real winters, you may ask, but at least the weather is good enough most of the time to go out). And during the summer we organize special Kids Cruises. Just enquiry about the options and we will get back to you on the shortest notice with further details.
